Default The Witch Doctor

The next GW installment is supposed to be African Inspired, and I would LOVE to see somthing like this... I didn't see any posts for this, and search is down(surprise) so here goes, also, this is my first concept class post, so bear with me.

The witch doctor will have an interesting blend of healing, and manipulation skills. In essence they use voodoo to manipulate/inflict damage, and create spells using chants to create different effects for their party. In order for the doctor to create a doll, they must touch a foe essentially taking a bit of hair or somthing of the like and binding it to the doll... the offset of this is you don't have to be in casting range for the voodoo spells to have an effect, so it could be a real headache if you were the guy targeted by the voodoo

The Witch Doctor

-Attributes-

Voodoo Arts - Primary - Deals with the creation of a voodoo doll which would be a held object much like ritualist ashes, but only takes the place of your off hand. It would increase the duration the voodoo doll lasted, which would balance the ability to use this class as a secondary (the doll must target some one for it to work, effectivly forcing you to pick your targets wisly) the innate effect of this attribute would Reduce any voodoo spell by 2%(kind of like expertise).

Voodoo Magic - This is more of the damaging style of voodoo magic, involving stabbing(your weapons base damage comes into effect when stabbing the doll), setting your doll on fire, and other skills of that nature.

Voodoo Manipulation - This involves more of physical manipulation of the doll, throwing it, breaking limbs, and effectivly disabling your opponent.

Chanting Magic - Involves various spells that give you and your team positive gains such as health regen, healing, protection, and extra damage.


-Armor and Weapons and How this character will look-

Armor AP will be the same as mage class characters
Primary weapon will be a single handed dagger(but thinner, damage of sin daggers, all piercing)

The witch doctor will look rather crazy, lots of tattoos, animal hides, bones piercing the nose, a rather grizzly looking individual...

-Skill Examples-

*Voodoo Arts

Doll Signet - Create a voodoo doll of touched target foe... For as long as you hold this doll, all your voodoo spells will target this foe... This doll lasts 15-45 Seconds... Recharge of 60

Create Doll - Costs 10 NRG - Same as the signet but lasts for 30-60 Seconds with a recharge of 60

Rebind Doll - Cost 5 NRG - For the duration of the doll, it now targets the target of this spell.

-Voodoo Magic -(Remember, your daggers damage lvl effects all stab spells)

Blinding Stab 10 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Stab the eyes of your doll, blinding its target for 5-15 seconds and deal +1-10 piercing damage. Recharge of 30

Burn Doll - 15 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Destory your voodoo doll, your voodoo doll's target takes 30-60 Fire damage and is set on fire for 3-8 seconds. Recharge of 30.

Stab Doll - 5 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Stab your doll dealing +3-15 Damage to its target. Recharge of 1.

Tearing Slash(Elite) - 15 NRG -Voodoo Spell- Destory your doll and deal +7-17 DMG to its target and inflict a deep wound and bleeding for 5-10 seconds. Recharge of
60

-Voodoo Manipulation-

Snap Arm - 10 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Break targets arm dealing 10-70 Damage and inflicting weakness for 5-20 seconds. Recharge of 30

Throw Doll(Elite) - 15 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Destroy the doll, your target is lifted from the ground and tossed 20 Feet in a straight line away from you, is knocked down and takes 50-80 earth damage. Recharge of 60.

Raise Doll - 20 NRG - Voodoo Spell - Raise the voodoo doll, lifting the target off its feet for 5-15 seconds, while elevated your target cannont move, attack, or cast spells, if the target is attacked or the target of a spell he is knocked down but can proceed to attack. Recharge of 60

Break Legs - 10 NRG - Snap your voodoo dolls legs, crippling your target for 6-12 and dealing 20-50 DMG. Recharge of 30

-Chanting - Chants work like shouts and can't be disenchanted

Chant of life - 10 NRG - Ressurect target ally at 50% life and 50% nrg.

Chant of Feral Rage(Elite) - 15 NRG - For 10 - 20 Seconds your entire party gains +20 armor and +20% attack speed. Recharge of 60

Chant of Hate - 10 NRG - For 5 - 25 Seconds your entire party gains +5 base damage, and all your parties attacks are chaos damage. Recharge of 40

Chant of Soul Syphon - 15 NRG - For 5 - 25 Seconds, all attacks done by your party drain 1 NRG for thier target. Recharge of 40

Chant of Vigor - 5 NRG - For 5 - 30 Seconds your entire party gains +1-3 NRG regen. Recharge of 60.

Chant of Healing - 10 NRG - Heal your entire party for 25-90 Life. Instant charge.



So thats my class idea... its a general build, can run a mix of support or damage, and could be a very interesting character... I didn't really do much as far as number crunching to see if this would be balance, the numbers I spit out are just kind of a general idea of what I was thinking it should be able to do, so don't get too overly critical on that, but let me know what ya think

stop right there, a witch doctor doesnt specialize in vodoo causing afiliations...

But I doubt they'd consider new classes at this time, maybe chapter 4 perhaps?

Those are some really cool skills btw^^ But some of your skills need developing.

Chant of Healing - 10 NRG - Heal your entire party for 25-90 Life. Instant charge.

overpowered... its better than heal party in every way... not to mention it's a pretty godly heal anyway

the voodoo ones.. seem to need a buff and some are just strange.. i liked the concept but all the skills are insane

Guys, I clearly stated that I made no effort in the balancing of the skills, just a general idea of what I was thinking this character should look like, act like, and what his abilities should be, so please, i know if the skills i listed were added in an as is state it would not be balanced, no need to bring that up, its the concept i was hitting on, let ANet deal with the balancing :-P

I think A-net considers the CC's more if the skills are balanced.

Ok, cool. It's not a bad idea....just amazingly overpowered. It's almost like the friggin Shaman in WoW.

If this class was implemented I'm sure my problem would be addressed, but would there be any counters to voodoo magic? Your skills seem like hexes that cannot be removed or something along those lines
